In an article on geekandsundry.com, Wil Wheaton (known mostly for his roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Stand By Me, and The Big Bang Theory) discussed GenCon, and why gaming itself is more important than the actual game you’re playing. He mentions that most people think of classics like Monopoly and Scrabble when they think of board games, but that more quickly paced, modern board games are usually more fun and “actively keep players involved throughout [the game]”.
